Library Policies and Procedures

Book Circulation Policies:

Students can check out books from the Media Center by using their student ID number as a library card.

  • Maximum amount of checkouts at one time: 2
  • Length of checkouts: 30 days
  • Late fee: $0
  • Books marked as lost after 60 days not returned or renewed
  • Number of available renewals: 2
  • Damaged book fee: Varies based on the damage; if damage is bad enough, the full price of the book may be charged to the student.

Lost books and fines:
Students will be charged a fine for any books that are considered lost (not returned or renewed within 60 days) or are damaged beyond repair. The fine will be for the full price of the book, so that a replacement copy can be bought. Fines for lost books can be removed by returning lost books without significant damage before graduating.

An alternative to paying a fine for a lost or damaged book is students can aquire a new or gently used copy of the lost or damaged book and turn it into the library as a replacement. Replacement books must be in the same format as the original (i.e. a lost or damaged hardcover book must be replaced by another hardcover copy of the book, not a paperback version).

Failure to pay lost or damaged book fines will result in the inability to buy a prom ticket and will prevent a student from walking in their graduation ceremony, similar to the policy for other unpaid school fines.
